Prior to co-founding SBP, Rod co-founded Brandwise, Inc., a pioneering provider of software to independent retail channels, leading the company’s operations and product management through its growth from 2 to more than 40 employees, including three M&A transactions. Most recently Rod has completed numerous projects in a variety of industries and situations ranging from startups to $500MM manufacturers, including extended projects with private-equity giant TPG Capital (formerly Texas Pacific Group), and DEMDACO, a premier provider of home and gift products.
Previously, Rod spent several years with pharmaceutical manufacturer Merck & Co., Inc., working on a variety of startup and technology transfer projects for the company's vaccines business, including in-house process implementation for second- and third-generation Hepatitis B vaccine manufacture, outsourcing production of Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) vaccine, and developing, with an international joint-venture partner, a pentavalent "five in one" vaccine for rest-of-world countries. Rod also completed assignments with The Dow Chemical Company and Hach Company, a producer of analytical instruments and reagents, now owned by Danaher Corporation.
Rod holds dual Bachelors of Science degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Highest Honors, from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Prior to co-founding SBP, Ted was also a co-founder of Brandwise, Inc., leading the company’s sales, marketing, and business developments efforts through its first seven years of growth. Previously, Ted was Principal and Owner of New York-based drummers, Inc., a 40-year-old houseware and gift wholesaler. Under Ted's leadership, drummers grew from 6 to more than 50 employees, becoming one of the largest and most visible wholesale distribution and brokerage organizations on the eastern seaboard, with customers ranging from specialty retailers to mass market venues such as Bed Bath & Beyond, QVC, Babies "R" Us, Federated Department Stores (now Macy's, Inc.), Linens 'N Things, Barnes & Noble, OfficeMax, Carlton Cards (retail division of American Greetings), Target, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Wegmans Food Markets, and David's Bridal.
In 2000 drummers, Inc. merged with The Ivystone Group, with the combined company now encompassing more than 200 employees and operations across 48 states. Ted supervised and helped orchestrate The Ivystone Group to diversify its product selection, acquire other comapnies with strategic product offerings and geographic positions, and centralize corporate offices. Although no longer active in an operational capacity with The Ivystone Group nor Brandwise, Ted sits on the board of both companies.
Ted holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Boston University.
